MAY 20, 2026 MATT BROZOVICH BLOG Commission Project: Bishop House Some commissions feel less like individual paintings and more like building a visual atmosphere. That’s what this project became. The Bishop House commission in Scottsdale, Arizona was designed as a three-piece collection — each painting carrying its own identity while still speaking the same language. The goal wasn’t simply to “match a room.” It was to create work that belonged to the space emotionally, structurally, and energetically. The project is part of the new luxury mixed-use development — a contemporary residential concept centered around modern desert architecture, walkability, and elevated design. The architecture immediately stood out to me. Concrete. Glass. Zinc. Warm light. Sharp lines softened by desert tones. It’s a visual story reflecting views on freedom, the American Revolution and Crispus Attucks. This painting was created as a commission for Seamus Corcoran, a native Bostonian whose deep connection to history shaped every stage of the process. From the very beginning, this project felt personal — not just a request for a painting, but an invitation to translate conviction and belief into something tangible. That responsibility carried weight, and it pushed the work beyond surface-level aesthetics into something more intentional and emotionally grounded. Crispus Attucks stands at the heart of Ignite, not only as a historical figure, but as a symbol of sacrifice and unresolved struggle.
