Schiavo
8″H x 10″W, Acrylic

Schiavo moves through a hushed dialogue of deep blue, evoking the disorienting rush of being seen after years spent in the shadows. A single point of light breaks through the darkness at the edge of the canvas, small at first but insistent, spreading outward until it begins to press back against everything that once obscured it. The tension between the deep enveloping blue and this emerging brightness captures a moment long delayed—recognition arriving not gently, but with the force of something finally allowed to exist.
Rather than settling into comfort, Schiavo holds onto the weight of what came before. The darkness isn’t erased so much as it’s pushed aside, still present at the margins, a reminder of how long the light took to arrive. Loose, deliberate brushwork bleeds into one another, tracing the uneasy space between invisibility and being known. The painting doesn’t resolve into triumph—it lingers instead in that raw, unguarded instant when obscurity gives way, and being seen feels almost as unfamiliar as having gone unseen for so long.
